Anap Sustainable Development Unit (ASDU)
ASDU is part of the ITTO Model Forest Management Area Sarawak Project (1993-2006) covering the FAO Forest Industry Development Project (FIDP) Inventory Unit 4 with an area of 106,200 ha. ASDU land use zonation demarcated a License for Planted Forest (PF/0039 of approx. 23,000 ha) of degraded forests surrounded by community use areas as a buffer for Anap Muput FMU. Zedtee Sdn Bhd is the licensee for LPF/0039 and forest manager of Anap Muput FMU.
The ASDU Liaison Committee is the consultative framework for stakeholder interaction between Zedtee Sdn Bhd and the local community who are represented by an elected committee known as Anap Muput Community (AMC) in conjunction with the relevant authorities.
- The objective for its establishment was to foster good community relation with a view to address:
- Issues over tenure, claims and use rights.
- Forest management measures that threaten or diminish the resources or tenure rights of the local communities; and resolve any grievance.
- Conflicts arising from unauthorized land use and community development.
