Anap Muput Forest Management Unit (AMFMU)
Area Description and Legal Status
The Anap-Muput FMU under the Timber License No. T/4317 covers an area of 83,535 hectares located between latitudes 2°08’ and 2°32’N, and longitudes 112°37’ and 113°E in the Tatau District of Bintulu Division.
The FMU is bounded by Sg. Muput Kiba to the north; Sg. Malat and Sg. Anap to the east; Sg Belawit to the southeast; Bt. Maleng, Bt. Obar and Bukit Likang mountain ridges on the south, and the cut-line common boundary with LPF/0050 on the southeast and Timber License No. T/3669 to the west. On a landscape level, the FMU is in the middle of Sarawak, strategically in the centre of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), surrounded by Sarawak Planted Forest Zone (PFZ) on three sides, and provide important link between the Rajang and Tatau river systems.
- The FMU is classified as Permanent Forest Estate (PFE) under:
- Anap Protected Forests (76,935 hectares) constituted initially in 1937 (Gazette Notification 1066) and amalgamated under Notification No. 587 on 1st March 1958 and
- Mukah Hills Protected Forests (6,600 hectares) initially constituted on 1st September 1956 (No. 1102) and amalgamated on 13th June 1958 (No. 790).
Anap Muput FMU has granted the license tenure extend for 30 years from 1st April 2023 until 31st May 2053 from the State Forest Department. Anap Muput FMU was the first certified for Sustainable Forest Management pursuat to a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 26th March 2016 in accordance with the Policy Direction for Forest Management and Certification 2015.
